About this Event
Pirates & Pirate Queens: Visual Journalling
Join us for a six-week visual journalling art therapy series, with each week exploring a different theme through free-association writing and creative expression.
Sessions take place Mondays from 6:00–7:30 PM.
Each session begins with a brief grounding exercise followed by free-association writing. Participants will be encouraged to let words, thoughts, memories and ideas flow onto the page without editing or worrying about where they are going.
From the writing, we will move into image-making using colour, line, shape, symbols and other creative materials. The image does not need to illustrate what you have written. Instead, we will allow the creative process to take the exploration somewhere new.
Our first theme, Pirates & Pirate Queens, invites us to play with ideas of freedom, adventure, courage, identity, treasure and finding our own direction.
What to Bring
Please bring a journal or sketchbook that you would like to make your own personal visual journal throughout the six weeks. All other art materials will be provided.
No artistic or writing experience is needed. Sharing is always optional.
Facilitated by Jennifer Kleinsteuber, Art Therapist and Professional Member of the BC Art Therapy Association.
