Together we will:
- Consider how prepared Forth Valley is currently for the impacts of climate change we’re already experiencing.
- Develop a vision of what the region looks like in 2050, as the result of successful adaptation for climate change
- Agree what actions we should prioritise to help make this future happen.
Forth Valley is home to nationally important heritage, fertile agricultural land and outstanding natural environments that support healthy, vibrant communities. From our historic towns and villages to our rural landscapes and green spaces, the region has a strong tradition of innovation, industry and community action. Shaped by the River Forth and its network of waterways, Forth Valley's people, places and economy are closely connected to the natural environment. As climate change increases the risk of flooding, extreme weather, rising temperatures and biodiversity loss, the assets that define our region face growing challenges.
Climate risks and adaptation opportunities often cross local authority boundaries and therefore require regional collaboration to maximise the benefits of adaptation.
The Scottish Government backed, Climate Ready Regional approach is at a very early stage in its development in Forth Valley, and this workshop for all key stakeholders will help to define a what a strong and representative partnership could look like and what shared values, vision and priorities we can take forward together to support climate adaptation across the Forth Valley.
