About this Event
New here? Welcome to Visibility Brigade Kane (VBK)! We're a local grassroots crew in Kane County, Illinois, standing up for democracy and pushing back against fascism, nationalism, and authoritarianism. Our signature move? Gathering on bridges over rush-hour traffic with giant-letter messages, waving flags, and giving drivers a peaceful, joyful, impossible-to-miss reminder that they're not alone. We're always looking for dependable people to join our regular crew and help make these actions happen. If you can only come occasionally, you're welcome too — bring a friend and be ready to wave at strangers! We also get together for trivia nights, watch parties, and social nights at local breweries — because building community is part of the work. Follow along for upcoming gatherings and ways to get involved. We'd love to see you on a bridge — or across a trivia table. Caroling. Trivia. Beer. In that order. Probably. No promises. Visibility Brigade Kane is taking over Sturdy Shelter Brewing in Batavia for a night of off-key Christmas carols and extremely competitive trivia. Bring your smartest friends and your loudest singing voice — you'll be playing on the VBK Trivia team, so no need to bring a team of your own. Bragging rights are on the line, and so is our dignity. (The dignity was already gone. The frog saw to that.) Caroling details are TBD — we're still working out the caroling plan. We'll update this event as soon as it's set, so check back here. Sturdy Shelter Brewing, 10 S Shumway Ave, Batavia — right on the Fox River, two floors of seating, 18 taps, plus wine, cider, and house sodas. 6:45-9:00 PM. What to Bring: Just yourself — you'll play on the VBK Trivia team. Friends are welcome. Your best (worst?) caroling voice. An appetite — light snacks at the bar, and you're welcome to bring your own food. Cash/card for drinks — first round's on you, second round's also on you, we're a grassroots crew. Parking: downtown Batavia — street parking on Shumway Ave and the public lots along the river. Arrive a few minutes early to snag a spot. First-timers absolutely welcome. If you can sing 'Jingle Bells' and name at least one Supreme Court justice, you're overqualified. Come be loud with us — the group chat will be unbearable for everyone who stayed home.
