About this Event
New here? Welcome to Visibility Brigade Kane (VBK)! We're a local grassroots crew in Kane County, Illinois, standing up for democracy and pushing back against fascism, nationalism, and authoritarianism. Our signature move? Gathering on bridges over rush-hour traffic with giant-letter messages, waving flags, and giving drivers a peaceful, joyful, impossible-to-miss reminder that they're not alone. We're always looking for dependable people to join our regular crew and help make these actions happen. If you can only come occasionally, you're welcome too — bring a friend and be ready to wave at strangers! We also get together for trivia nights, watch parties, and social nights at local breweries — because building community is part of the work. Follow along for upcoming gatherings and ways to get involved. We'd love to see you on a bridge — or across a trivia table.
MAKE SOME NOISE. MAKE A DIFFERENCE. Last bridge of November. Let's make it the loudest one yet. Rush hour. A packed bridge. A bold message thousands of MOTORISTS can't miss. Expect powerful messages, nonstop supportive honking, great people, and the kind of energy that reminds us we are far from alone. And as the sun goes down, we glow — bring your light sticks, because the dark doesn't stop us, it just makes us prettier. Never done this before? Perfect. We'll get you set up and make sure you feel right at home. We start at 4:00 PM and wrap between 6:15 and 6:30 PM. Come for all of it or whatever time you can give. Itinerary: 4:00-4:30 PM install & set up signs, banners, flags; 4:30-6:15 PM dance party (we wave flags, shake pom poms, bang cowbells, swing pool noodles — anything to make drivers look up at our message!); 6:15-6:30 PM take down & pack up. Weather: Rain? We're still on. Fascism doesn't take a break for the weather — neither do we! Severe storms (hail, lightning, etc.) are a different story. Parking: West side of the North Aurora Police Department. (Please don't park on the bridge itself.) What to Bring: water or another drink; fun props (pom poms, cowbell, pool noodles, etc.); comfortable clothes you can move & sweat in; a smile + a helpful attitude. What Not to Bring: protest signs (unless letters are 2+ feet tall — otherwise drivers can't see them). The Bridge Message is our focus — help us keep it strong. Rules of the Road (and Bridge!): 1) If MAGA folks approach, record — don't engage. 2) If police come: no worries, we're legally allowed to protest (we've checked). 3) Stay to the sides so cyclists, runners, and walkers can pass easily. 4) Motorist engagement: stay positive — even with the haters. Visibility Brigade Kane installs bold, provocative messages in highly visible public spaces — against fascism, nationalism, and authoritarianism, and for democracy. Our goal is to reach beyond the politically engaged, spark curiosity, and inspire people to seek the truth for themselves. Join us. Be part of the movement. Be safe, be helpful, and HAVE FUN!
