Think sunshine, seaside holidays, palm trees, and the unmistakable excitement of summer excursions.

A variety of trains capture the spirit of the “English Riviera”
A journey beyond Britain to the glamour of the 1930s French Riviera, featuring routes from Paris to Nice and Cannes
Elegant Compagnie Internationale des Wagons-Lits sleeping and dining cars
French PLM locomotives representing continental luxury travel
Train Running Days are special public events held twice a year at the Museum, offering visitors the chance to see locomotives in full operation on the central 1930s Gauge 0 layout.
This remarkable model railway, created by Chris Littledale, is the centrepiece of the Museum’s collection. With a three-rail track and around 50 locomotives and trains, the layout brings 1930s railway life vividly to life.
Inspired by British towns and cities—particularly Brighton architecture—the layout combines authentic period details with immersive scenery, creating a rich and engaging experience for all ages.
