Join us Friday evening for the Vigil of the Entrance of the Theotokos into the Temple, at St. Christina of Tyre Orthodox Church in Fremont. When the Virgin Mary was three years old, her parents Joachim and Anna brought her to the Temple in Jerusalem and offered her to God. The Orthodox Church celebrates that moment as one of its twelve Great Feasts. It falls early in the Nativity Fast and points ahead to Christmas: the girl who enters the Temple will become a living temple for Christ.
The Vigil is the festive evening service that opens the feast. It joins Vespers and Matins into one service of psalms, hymns, candlelight and incense. Services are in English.
Friday, November 20, 6:00 – 8:00 PM
