What's happening
Graffiti tags have built up along shopfronts, poles and laneway walls on Victoria Street. For one Sunday morning, traders, residents and volunteers are joining Yarra's ACE to take them off. ACE is City of Yarra's graffiti removal crew — they bring the professional kit, know which surfaces need which treatment, and will supervise on the day. We bring the hands.
Who it's for
Anyone who shops, eats, works or lives around Victoria Street. Traders are encouraged to send a staff member or come themselves — the wall we clean might be yours. Families welcome; children must stay with an adult and will be given light tasks (bag-holding, litter, wiping) rather than solvents.
What to bring and wear
Closed shoes, long pants, a hat and clothes you don't mind marking. Gloves, removal products, rollers and bags are supplied. Bring a water bottle. Morning tea is provided by Victoria Street businesses.
How it runs
9.30am — meet at Victoria & Lithgow, sign in, quick safety briefing from ACE, split into small groups with a lead.
10:00am–12.30am — work along assigned stretches of Victoria Street.
12.30am — regroup for quick lunch, before-and-after photos, and thanks.

Why we're doing it
A clean street is the cheapest marketing Victoria Street has. Tags that sit for weeks signal nobody cares; cleaning them within days signals the opposite. This is also the start of a longer arrangement with ACE so removal becomes routine, not a once-a-year working bee.
Hosted by
