About this Event
Welcome to the penultimate meeting of the year!
To celebrate, we will make space for self care, despite the absurdity of our current situation. As the wise Recyclops once bemoaned: "Humans are terrible for the environment!" Despite this, we persist.
As scores of well-meaning citizens sign up to volunteer at food banks throughout the city, we encourage you to understand volunteerism through a more holistic lens. Go to your local basketball court, find a stranger, and play basketball with them for 30 minutes.
If you don't know how to play, ask the stranger.
If you aren't very good at the sport, make conversation.
If you are shy, rehearse questions beforehand.
If they are mean, try someone else. There are more of us than them.
If you lose, shake their hand and thank them for a good game.
No, there is no incentive for you to do this, but give it a shot. Your anxiety is lying to you: chatting with strangers was a mundane part of life 7 years ago.
Volunteers, we are facing an Avengers' level threat - big potatoes: The Holocene Extinction Event. Understand the unbreakable web of solidarity that is existence; power comes through making connections outside of your comfort zone; the butterfly effect will compound each positive action you choose.
Our task is essential, so make sure you understand it. Plus, if the Earth's not here, where else is Greenzo gonna dance?
