About this Event
You are invited to Veterans Benefits Live and Homeless Veterans Stand Down in Winston-Salem, NC September 17 and 18, 2026.
Please note, when you pre-register, you're reserving a general admission spot for the day, not a specific appointment time. We’ll see everyone in the order they arrive. There may be a wait, but rest assured you will be seen and receive services. Thank you for your patience and for being part of the event!
While you wait, we encourage you to visit the other vendors and take advantage of the other services available.
This is your chance to sit down one-on-one with claims processors who can help you file claims for Veteran and survivor benefits, give updates on pending claims, and answer questions about your prior claims and additional benefits you may be entitled to.
Staff from the Salisbury VA Health Care System will be onsite providing mental health services, VA health care enrollment, health care for homeless Veterans, and toxic exposure screenings.
On-site compensation and pension (C&P) exams will be available in select scenarios. While not all claims can be accommodated, we aim to provide this service wherever possible.
Other services include:
• Mobile Vet Center mental health counseling
• Veteran Readiness and Employment services
• Additional goods and services will be available to Veterans who are experiencing or at risk of experiencing homelessness, including haircuts, toiletry kits, and some clothing items.
• Housing assistance, social and vocational support services, and barber services
The event is on the Winston-Salem Transit Authority bus line. Bus stop 47265, University Parkway at Goodwill Shelter, is a direct stop at the event.
