Hosted by the Veterans Alumni Council | UofSC Alumni Association
📅 Tuesday, October 20, 2026
🕕 6:00–8:00 p.m.
📍 Do Little, 1705 Dreher Island Rd, Chapin, SC
In the early months of 1942, a group of volunteer airmen trained at Columbia Army Air Base for one of the boldest missions of World War II: the Doolittle Raid. More than 80 years later, the Midlands still holds a proud piece of that history, and the Veterans Alumni Council invites you to come explore it with us.
Join fellow Gamecock veterans, alumni and friends for an evening at Do Little in Chapin. The venue is full of aviation and military memorabilia, and the setting is as unique as the story behind it. Our featured speaker, the curator of the planned museum honoring the Doolittle Raiders and the area's go-to expert on the raid. He'll give a historical brief on the mission and its ties to Columbia, then open the floor for Q&A.
Get there early to check out the historic vehicles on display in the parking lot. Food and soft drinks will be provided.
What to expect:
- Historical brief on the Doolittle Raid and its South Carolina connection
- Live Q&A with a local expert
- Historic vehicle display
- Food, soft drinks and time to connect with fellow veterans and alumni
Space at Do Little is limited, so please register early to save your spot. Veterans, alumni, family and friends are all welcome.
