✨Kunsthall inviterer deg til to utstillingsåpningene – Isabelle Andriessens «THE BARREN» og Mariella Ottos «…in statues, still image» den 22.oktober, k.18:00I første etasje samler «THE BARREN» en gruppe nyproduserte, ulydige automater. Inspirert av middelalderens torturredskaper og scenemaskineriet fra renessansen og barokken beveger, knirker og kolliderer skulpturene i stadig skiftende koreografier. Med utgangspunkt i mekanismer for offentlig avhumanisering undersøker Andriessen kroppen som et sted for disiplinering, utnyttelse og traumer – men også som et sted for motstand. Kroppene er merket, utmattet og sørgende, men de fortsetter å eksistere. De nekter å gi opp.
I underetasjen undersøker Mariella Ottos «…in statues, still image» arkivet og hvordan det former vår kollektive hukommelse. Med utgangspunkt i research ved to portugisiske arkiver, samt filmopptak, private opptak og arkivmateriale, spør Otto: Hvordan formes et samfunns fortellinger og minner – og hva blir værende utenfor bildet?

✨Join us for the opening of Isabelle Andriessen’s "THE BARREN" and Mariella Otto’s "…in statues, still image" on October 22, 18:00
On the first floor, "THE BARREN" brings together a group of newly produced, disobedient automata. Inspired by medieval instruments of torture and Renaissance and Baroque stage machinery, the sculptures move, creak and collide in ever-changing choreographies. Drawing on mechanisms of public dehumanisation, Andriessen explores the body as a site of discipline, exploitation and trauma — but also as a place of resistance. These bodies may be marked, exhausted and grieving, but they continue to exist. They refuse to give up.
In the basement, Mariella Otto’s "…in statues, still image" explores the archive and the ways it shapes collective memory. Drawing on research at two Portuguese archives, as well as film footage, personal recordings and archival material, Otto asks: How are a society’s stories and memories formed — and what gets left outside the frame?
