About this Event
In the interactive installation poPusto-isto | self-discount, Marija Sotirovska Bogdanovska explores the invisible costs of consumer society. The work invites reflection on the value of people, nature, and dignity in a world of permanent discounts and special offers.
poPusto-isto is an interactive installation about everyday life in consumer society, where the body, nature, and human dignity often become part of the logic of “discounts” and “special offers.”
The red carpet symbolizes the path toward consumption. Visitors walk along it ceremonially, as if attending an important event, and eventually arrive at a traffic mirror bearing the message “Welcome to the Sale!” The mirror represents a market logic that turns us into distorted consumers and “products” rather than people with our own values.
On both sides of the path stand stainless steel racks displaying white T-shirts. They symbolize uniformity and standardized consumption. Attached to the shirts are discount tags and drawings from the artist’s diary, revealing the true cost of convenience: dried-up lakes, polluted air, and the exploitation of people.
Visitors are invited to write their own “discount slogan” and attach it to the T-shirts. In this way, the installation becomes a collective space for reflection, asking: What is real value? What do we sacrifice? And what consequences does our behavior leave on our bodies, communities, and the natural world?
