Hire The True CRIME Museum after dark for your nocturnal events! Do you dare to enter the caves? The True Crime Museum is a popular venue frequented by Paranormal Investigators including TV’s Ghost Chasers and Barri Ghai from Help my House is Haunted!
Set in 3,000 square feet of seafront caves, the Museum boasts many macabre exhibits with fascinating back stories. With it’s eerie aura and unique contents, is it any wonder that the Museum is a ‘must visit’ venue for paranormal investigators? Hundreds of ghost hunters have experienced creepy sightings and unexplained events.
Both staff and customers have been known to see spine chilling apparitions and phantom footsteps during their visits with us.
Curator Joel Griggs describes two events that happened just after the Museum first opened: “I was on my own very early one morning, when I looked up at the CCTV. I watched this figure going through the back door and I was absolutely certain of it! It looked like someone had come down the steps at the back, they moved confidently, as if they knew the place.
I ran into the caves, I was going at some pace and I shouted, ‘Hello, can I help you?”, but there was nobody there. I checked everywhere, it totally freaked me out to the point where I had to lock up and go and stand on the pavement until another member of staff came along. I’m not usually one for this kind of thing but it sent a shiver down my spine. I am SO certain of it!”
Very soon after, two young nurses from the Conquest hospital in Hastings bought tickets to enter the Museum but moments later came rushing out, terrified and close to tears.
“They said they were reading the information near the skull of triple murderer, Louis Lefevre when he politely addressed them and asked to be invited back to their home. They were both quite adamant that this had happened and were extremely distressed.”
One of the UK's leading Paranormal Experts, Barri Ghai, best known as the presenter of Discovery Channel's 'Help! My House Is Haunted' is a regular visitor of the Museum conducting his own investigations every October. Barry said “My most memorable experience at The True Crime Museum so far took place in the Summer of 2019. I began my investigation at the Electric Chair, where I captured one of the best (and loudest!) Class 'A' Electronic Voice Phenomenons of my 20 year career.
l asked the group to call out a clear question while I used a digital voice recorder. One guest asked
"What is your name?" I heard a faint response but did not want to break the flow of the session so I waited before asking the same question again.
When I played back the recordings we all heard a male voice say "Albert Heathfield". What was incredible was that it was the same answer, recorded TWICE. Once in response to the guest's question and then again when I followed this up at the end. Scary and amazing!
For me, the Electric Chair exhibit is the most active area, but I also had a very unusual and quite scary experience by the hangman's noose. l accidently touched the rope during one investigation in 2020 and became unresponsive, almost fixated and in a trance-like state for several minutes."
