About this Event
The late Sam Neill and Isabelle Adjani star as utterly deranged divorcees in this visually stunning film best appreciated on the big screen. Drenched in psychoanalytic themes from the plot to the script to the set design, critics could not make sense of this film when it was first released. It was called “unhinged”, “genre-less”, “confusing”, “camp elangante”, “a mass of symbols” and “incoherent yet arresting”. Adjani won best actress at Cannes for her performance. At the same time, it was banned in the UK. It’s very deserving of a screening at this film night and a thorough post-film analysis.

To make sense of this film we're lucky to be joined by Dr Paul Cammell and Dr MJ Yoo.
Dr Paul Cammell is a senior psychiatrist and academic based in Melbourne, Australia who practices adult psychiatry and psychotherapy. He’s currently the chair of advanced psychotherapy training for the RANZCP.
Dr. MJ Yoo is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Psychiatry, where she serves as Co-Course Coordinator for both the Master of Psychiatry and the Clinical Psychiatry Course. Alongside her academic role, she works clinically as a Consultant Psychiatrist at The Royal Melbourne Hospital.
