Activity Description

The Vanderbilt Women's Health Symposium is a one day, case-based educational symposium developed to strengthen clinician knowledge of care of female patients. Expert faculty from multi-disciplinary backgrounds will provide the latest information relevant to care of the female patient across the life course. This educational event is well-suited for physicians and advance practice practitioners from specialties relevant to women's health, including cardiology, neurology, internal medicine, family practice and OB/GYN.

Specific topics are listed below in the tentative agenda. Both in-person and virtual options are available.


In-Person

Doors open at 7:15 a.m. The event will take place in the ballroom on the 9th floor. Lunch will be provided. Parking is available in the hotel garage for a discounted fee of $10.00 to symposium attendees. Space is limited and early registration is encouraged.


Virtual

Virtual attendees will receive a Microsoft Teams webinar link via email approximately one week prior to the symposium to register and join remotely.

Learn how to apply the new multi-society stroke guidelines to practice, including recommendations for reducing stroke in pregnancy and aging women.

Learn how to apply the new multi-society expert consensus recommendations for postpartum care to practice, including recommendations for management of blood pressure in pregnancy, recognition of cardiovascular emergencies, and long-term preventive cardiovascular care following pregnancy

Learn how to mitigate the risks of polypharmacy among geriatric women

Learn how frailty contributes to adverse outcomes among older women, and how to reduce the risk of frailty in aging women

Learn about updated recommendations for hormone replacement therapy in menopausal women

Understand migraine management throughout a woman’s life span.

Be able to differentiate the normal menopausal-related cognitive symptoms from pathologic cognitive decline and the impact of estrogen

Identify risk factors for neuropathy that are unique to women

The hotel parking garage is available for event parking and provided at a discounted rate of $10.00 to symposium attendees. If needed, overnight self-parking is $35.00.
