About this Event

Vaccine Manufacture: Why Do We Need Engineers?

Vaccines have been instrumental in saving lives and improving life expectancy throughout the world.

Notably, vaccination is ranked second by the WHO in improving global living standards, just after sanitation and clean water. A vaccine is discovered in the lab and used in the clinic, but for it to be useful to society it must be manufactured at large scale and at an affordable cost.

This is where engineers, specifically biochemical engineers come in: they take vaccines from the laboratory to large scale manufacture.
