Kristjan Jurkas – Hummingbird Flutes
Glasbenik, ustvarjalec sodobnih zvočnih krajin in izdelovalec flavt stila severnoameriških staroselcev.

cevasti zvonci
Ustvarjalca bosta predstavila materiale, zgodovinske okoliščine, osnovne tehnične postopke izdelave, zvočne možnosti glasbil ter odgovarjala na vprašanja obiskovalcev.
Po koncertu bo glasbila mogoče tudi preizkusiti.

/// ENG (translated with AI)
Utripnik is a concert series that brings together acoustic music, contemporary sounds, unique handmade instruments, and experimental and electronic musical approaches.
The events create a space for encounters between tradition and contemporary musical practices.
The first event in the series will feature Kristjan Jurkas (Hummingbird Flutes) and Januš Aleš Luznar (Roots Music Instruments).
You can expect a genre-defying concert in which acoustic instruments intertwine with electronic effects, ambient soundscapes, and sonic textures.
The concert will also include improvisation, meaning that some pieces may emerge spontaneously, right there and then, through a direct dialogue with the audience.
Performers
Kristjan Jurkas – Hummingbird Flutes
Musician, creator of contemporary soundscapes, and maker of Native American-style flutes.
Kristjan is dedicated to exploring sound, natural acoustics, and intuitive playing. As a master of sound frequencies, he focuses on subtle vibrations, the resonant responses of materials, and the interplay between tone, space, and listener. His approach is not centred on virtuosity, but rather on feeling, presence, and guiding sound in a way that creates space for tranquillity and inner connection.
In recent years, he has also been creating his own wooden wind instruments. He explores how materials, shapes, and resonance influence the uniqueness of each tone, how the natural resonance of wood expresses itself, and how an instrument “breathes” together with the performer. His artistic focus lies in bringing craftsmanship, sound, and subtle presence together, building a bridge between traditional knowledge and contemporary sound practice.
Januš Aleš Luznar
Intermedia artist and multi-instrumentalist.
His work lies at the intersection of music, audiovisual art, and interdisciplinary practices. For more than two decades, he has been involved in producing projects, composing music, sound design, audiovisual and physical performances, music workshops, and the handcrafted production of acoustic instruments, which he also performs with in concerts.
One of his more widely recognised audiovisual projects, ICTUSCORDIS, is an original series in which the human heart becomes a living musical and visual instrument. Since 2018, the project has been presented more than 50 times in Slovenia and at guest performances across Europe.
Concert and handmade instruments
The central part of the evening will be a concert and presentation of unique acoustic instruments handcrafted by the two musicians themselves. The event will also offer an opportunity to meet the people behind the instruments and learn about their journeys, motivations, and the craftsmanship they are passing on.
The instruments featured will include:
Native American-style flutes
African ngoni
Tubular bells
The artists will introduce the materials, historical context, basic instrument-making techniques, and the sonic possibilities of the instruments, as well as answer questions from the audience.
After the concert, visitors will also have the opportunity to try out the instruments themselves.
A voluntary contribution of €5 or more is welcome.
