About this Event
In Feb. 2026, the U.S. and Israel launched a joint military operation against Iran, killing Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and targeting nuclear and military infrastructure. Over seven months later, the conflict continues to escalate in the Gulf, with significant impact on the region, the United States and the global marketplace.
This event brings together leading experts to discuss this conflict in all its dimensions and its implications for the future of regional security, economics and U.S. policy. Former Ambassador David Satterfield will moderate a conversation with Danny Citrinowicz, a former head of the Iran Branch in Israeli Defense Intelligence, and Mohammad Ayatollahi Tabaar, Baker Institute fellow and expert on Iran and international security. Together, they will examine the conflict from Israeli, Iranian, U.S., and broader regional perspectives, including the strategic calculations shaping its trajectory. The discussion will cover Iran’s internal dynamics and strategic priorities — including the nuclear program, Israel’s objectives, U.S. policy, the roles of Gulf states, and what next steps are likely.
