About this Event
Cornell Tech’s Urban Tech Summit returns on November 19-20, 2024, focusing on the theme of “Intelligence for Climate Adaptation.” Organized by the Urban Tech Hub at Cornell Tech’s Jacobs Institute, this year’s Summit will explore cutting-edge artificial intelligence (AI) technologies to create more resilient urban environments.
Over two days, leading experts from industry, academia, and government will discuss how AI and machine learning (ML) can address critical challenges like extreme heat, flooding, renewable energy and building systems, and urban logistics. The event will feature keynote speakers, panel discussions, start-up pitches, and interactive workshops that foster innovation and collaboration among city officials, researchers, technologists, industry leaders, and community advocates working to build stronger, more adaptive cities.
Tickets:
Standard Ticket ($499): This two-day pass includes entry to both days of programming, including lunch on both days.
Premium Ticket ($749): This two-day pass includes entry to both days of programming, including lunch on both days, as well as exclusive access to the following networking events:
- One ticket to the Urban Tech Summit’s NYC Climate Community Cocktails event at Civic Hall on September 23rd at 6:00 PM.
- Access to additional networking events with conference speakers, government leaders, and Cornell Tech faculty during the two-day event (more details to follow).
What to expect at the 2024 Urban Tech Summit:
- Intensive programming about how artificial intelligence and machine learning can address critical challenges like extreme heat, flooding, renewable energy and building systems, and urban logistics
- Opportunities to connect with leaders and experts in the field
- Collaboration among members of the New York climate innovation community
- A diverse and inspiring environment curated for inspiring solutions
Day 1: Hazards, Risks, and Technology Solutions
The first day of the Summit will open with an examination of the ways AI and ML can enhance urban resilience by addressing challenges related to extreme heat and flooding. Discussions will look at the role of AI in developing targeted cooling strategies, improving flood models, and supporting equitable relocation, emphasizing the importance of collaboration between city officials, scientists, and residents.
Afternoon sessions will explore the potential of emerging technologies like digital twins and generative AI models to enhance climate resilience and urban adaptation efforts. These discussions will uncover how cities can effectively collaborate with AI and leverage real-time data for innovation while addressing challenges such as transparency and environmental impact.
Day 2: Building Resilient Urban Systems
On day two, our programming will dig deeper into the ways AI, sensing, and automation are transforming urban systems to build more resilient, sustainable, and adaptable cities. As cities face the challenges of climate change and increasing demands on infrastructure, they must transform construction technologies, energy management, public transportation, and logistics systems. These sessions will highlight how new tools, systems, and strategies can help cities more seamlessly integrate advanced technologies to create more durable, equitable, and efficient urban environments.
