Gold prices have reached an all-time high. What impact has this dramatic increase had on jewelers and consumers? Has the rise in gold prices stifled creativity among jewelers or constrained consumer spending on jewelry? What discussions are occurring between jewelers and their clients? Join our panel of experts as we explore these questions and more.


Participants

Joy BC (Joy Bonfield-Colombara), born in 1989, is a distinguished Italian/British goldsmith and sculptor specializing in noble metals and bronze. A young master, she creates truly unique works that often defy conventional categories in high jewelry, art, and craft After graduating from the Royal College of Art in 2019, she established her studio in Bloomsbury, London. Joy’s masterpieces are both avant-garde and classic, and her pieces can be found in several museum collections.

Joseph Cavatoni joined the World Gold Council in 2016 and is currently serving as the Senior Market Strategist for North America. Additionally, Joe serves as Principal Executive Officer for the World Gold Trust Services, LLC; President and Principal Executive Officer of WGC USA Asset Management Company, LLC. With over 30 years of experience in the financial services industry (including 15 years working in Asia), Joe’s expertise is in global capital markets, exchange traded funds, asset management, trading, and business/platform development. Prior to joining the World Gold Council, Joe acted as Managing Director at BlackRock where he was responsible for iShares Capital Markets – Americas. Prior to BlackRock, he held senior positions at UBS, Merrill Lynch and Bank of America focused on equity derivatives trading, securities financing, and lending.

Sheryl Jones Inc. is known for the highest level of craftsmanship, quality and detail. Sheryl strives to provide fine jewelry with a fresh, current sensibility and a timeless appeal -- heirloom objects that reflect your style and the inner beauty found within each person. In addition to her custom pieces, she designed and presented her own line of diamond and gemstone jewelry on HSN in 2018. Her jewelry was featured in the 2021 and 2022 Brilliant and Black shows at Sothebys auction house where she continues to sell her pieces on their online platform. Her atelier is based in Rockefeller Plaza where is sees private clients and wholesales to several stores.

Bliss Lau is known for her innovative, conscious fine jewelry, blends modern aesthetics with innovative design. Her pieces often explore dualities and focus on incorporating negative space. Bliss seeks to upend the jewelry industry and is leading the charge in increasing transparency and ethical practices in an otherwise opaque industry. Her atelier is based in DUMBO, Brooklyn.

Bella Neyman is the founder of New York City Jewelry Week. She is an independent curator, lecturer and journalist specializing in contemporary jewelry. Most recently she served on the Curatorial Advisory Committee for “45 Stories in Jewelry: 1947 to Now” at the Museum of Arts and Design in New York. Since graduating with a Master’s Degree in Decorative Arts and Design History from Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum & Parsons, The New School for Design in 2008, she has worked for some of New York City’s leading design galleries. Bella’s articles have been published in The New York Times, Metalsmith, Antiques, and National Jeweler. Bella lectures on topics related to the history of jewelry at the 92NY Jewelry Center, Christie’s Education, and Brooklyn Metalworks. She is on the Board of Art Jewelry Forum. Bella and her family reside in Brooklyn.


Each November, NYC Jewelry Week proudly presents ‘The Week,’ a 7-day celebration dedicated to the art of jewelry. This annual event invites a global audience to explore the world of jewelry through a dynamic mix of in-person and virtual experiences, spanning New York City and beyond.
