Discover how hands-on tree care strengthens local ecosystems, reduces urban heat, and fosters a healthier environment.
About this Event

Have you ever wanted to plant a tree and know it will still be standing years from now? Trees provide oxygen production, air purification, urban cooling and so much more healthy contributions. With the right care, the trees we plant today can last for generations.

Join the University of the District of Columbia College of Agriculture, Urban Sustainability, and Environmental Sciences (UDC-CAUSES) on Denard Plaza for a free, hands-on workshop led by Certified Arborist Jeanne Kavinski.

Whether you are a seasoned gardener or have never touched a pruning tool, you will learn practical skills from an expert while helping the earth and generations to come.

As a Tree Campus Higher Education institution, UDC is committed to planting for the future - and you can be part of this legacy.

What to Expect

  • Expert Guidance: Work directly alongside a tree expert to learn proper planting and pruning techniques.
  • Hands-On Learning: Gain practical arboriculture skills that you can apply in your own yard or neighborhood.
  • Community Impact: Foster water and soil conservation, support local wildlife habitats, and help UDC build a green campus ecosystem.

Who Should Attend
Students, faculty, staff, residents, gardeners, business owners, and anyone interested in learning tree care or making a lasting contribution to our local environment.
