A big thank you to the Wispact Foundation for providing another year of support to the Wisconsin Parkinson Association! The grant will be used for Urban Poling Workshops to provide equipment and training to people with Parkinson’s. Attendees will receive Activator Technique training by a certified Urban Poling Instructor and one set of ACTIVATOR℗ Poles*.Activator poles help improve balance and posture by helping to keep the user more upright. At the same time, taking longer strides stretches the limbs and keeps the body rotated, which can help improve coordination. People with Parkinson’s report that using the ACTIVATOR℗ Poles promotes greater independence and improves quality of life.
The workshop at Hatch will provide the equipment and training for up to 25 individuals with Parkinson’s Disease. After registration, if necessary, the WPA will contact you regarding eligibility and to answer any questions you may have.
*Note: Eligibility is for those individuals with Parkinson’s and to those who do not own a pair of ACTIVATOR℗ Poles received at a previous Urban Poling workshop. Spouses and care partners are encouraged to attend.
