Join us Friday, October 9, at 4:30 PM as Fayetteville unveils the first three plaques in a new project honoring the people and places that have shaped our town.We’ll begin at the Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Building, 200 W. Maple Ave., to honor musician Charlie McCoy. Then we’ll walk to the courtyard at Maple Avenue and Court Street to unveil a plaque for Police Chief Tunney Hunsaker. Our final stop, near Wisteria Gifts at 147 S. Court St., will honor Thomas Sweeney, Fayetteville’s first Black attorney and a longtime supporter of education for all.
Come walk with us, hear their stories, and help celebrate Fayetteville’s history. Refreshments will be offered at the Fayetteville Welcome Center following the event.
