In 2021, 22-year-old Gabby Petito’s story captured the attention of the nation. Her disappearance and death brought difficult but important conversations about intimate partner violence, warning signs, and the realities many survivors face into homes across the country.Since losing Gabby, her family has made sure her story continues to make a difference through the Gabby Petito Foundation.
On November 5th, Gabby’s parents, Nichole and Jim Schmidt, will sit down with Jason Boyett of Brick & Elm for an intimate conversation about Gabby, their journey as a family, and why they continue to speak out.
Unscripted: Stories That Matter is a special fundraising event benefiting Family Support Services and the survivors we serve right here in the Texas Panhandle.
The timing of this conversation is especially meaningful. November is National Strangulation Awareness Month, giving us an opportunity to bring attention to the very real dangers of strangulation in intimate partner violence. And as we head into the holiday season, we know the need for domestic violence services in our community often increases.
Every ticket purchased helps us continue providing safety, advocacy, education, and support to individuals and families who need us.
