About this Event

Did you know that 20% of the world's population has dyslexia? While it's often labeled simply as a learning disability, that only tells a fraction of the story. Research reveals a far more inspiring truth: individuals with dyslexia frequently possess extraordinary strengths: including complex problem-solving, creativity, and spatial reasoning — among the most sought-after skills in today's job market.

Join the Hettie Johnson Institute at Spring Valley School for the first event in a three-part community series exploring dyslexia and different ways of thinking. This opening event features a screening of Made By Dyslexia: What Is Dyslexia?, inviting attendees to look beyond common misconceptions and discover the unique strengths and perspectives of dyslexic thinkers — and to begin a broader conversation about the value of neurodiverse thinking in today's workforce.

Open to families, educators, employers, school leaders, homeschool communities, and anyone curious about the strengths and experiences of different thinkers.
