Health and life sciences sit at the heart of both the UK’s economic growth strategy and the future sustainability of the NHS. The UK combines world-leading universities, pioneering biotechnology companies, and a unique national health system capable of translating scientific discovery directly into patient care. Yet despite these strengths, the adoption of innovation across the health system remains slower than many innovators and clinicians would like. Bridging the gap between research breakthroughs and routine NHS use is essential if the UK is to improve patient outcomes, strengthen its life sciences sector, and ensure the health service can meet rising demand.
This parliamentary panel – Accelerating the Adoption of Innovation and AI in UK Life Sciences – will take place on 29 April 2026, 6:00–7:30pm in Parliament, hosted by former Minister of State, former Chair of the APPG for Life Sciences, and member of the Science and Technology Select Committee, Daniel Zeichner MP and chaired by Curia advisory board member Professor Gillian Leng CBE, former Chief Executive of the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE). Bringing together policymakers, researchers, industry leaders and innovators, the discussion will explore how the UK can move more quickly from scientific discovery to system-wide deployment of new technologies, including AI, genomics and advanced therapeutics, ensuring innovation developed in the UK is adopted faster across the NHS.
