UNITE THE FIGHTS\u200b: STOP BILL C-39 RALLY

As part of the Week of Action for Indigenous Sovereignty, we are uniting our voices from Indigenous communities and leadership, environmental organizations, labour unions, grassroots groups, supporters, and allies to stand together against Bill C-39: Building Canada Strong Act.
As the Omnibus Bill C-39 advances, we are deeply concerned about its implications for First Nations rights, Indigenous jurisdiction, environmental protection, and workers’ rights. The proposed legislation would expand federal authority to designate projects as ‘Regions of National Interest’, accelerating industrial project approvals and exempting them from environmental assessments and labour protections as well as consultation and consent by impacted Indigenous communities. This will have significant consequences for Indigenous peoples' inherent and Treaty rights, territories, lands, waters, ways of living, and the future of our peoples. The bill also massively infringes on the right to strike.
Bill C-39 is being quickly rammed through parliament and could become law by November. We all urgently need to unite the fights to stop this Bill.
We are calling for solidarity across our movements along with residents and allies across Turtle Island to stand together to uphold First Nations jurisdiction, protect the environment, and defend workers’ rights.
Please join us on Wednesday October 28th at 12 noon, at the gathering point of Asquith Green Park, 14 Park Road, Toronto. From there we’ll march to our destination and end with a round dance.
Bring your drums, shakers, songs, and prayers!
