We are so excited to announce that The Hiding Place is partnering with the Pickens County Youth Board for UNFILTERED: An Art Showcase — a community evening centered on authentic expression, resilience, and the power of being heard.
October is both Domestic Violence Awareness Month and National Youth Substance Use Prevention Month, and together, we are creating a space where stories that are often difficult to put into words can be expressed through art.
🖼️ YOUTH ART
The Pickens County Youth Board is inviting youth ages 5+ to submit artwork sharing their perspectives on substance use prevention, mental well-being, resilience, and what it means to live authentically.

💜 SURVIVOR ART
The Hiding Place will be working alongside survivors in our programs to create pieces that tell their stories — unfiltered.
Stories of survival.
Stories of pain.
Stories of courage.
Stories of rebuilding.
Stories that deserve space to exist without being softened, explained away, or silenced.
Survivors in the community are also invited to submit artwork for consideration. If you are a survivor and would like to participate, please email Breann at [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]). All submitted artwork will be reviewed prior to the showcase.

Select artwork will also be available for purchase during the evening, with donations benefiting the Pickens County Youth Board and The Hiding Place.
This is more than an art showcase.
It is an opportunity for young people and survivors to say, “This is what I experienced. This is what I felt. This is what I hope for. This is my story.”
No filters. No perfect words required.
Just expression, truth, and a community willing to listen.
