Understory High is a youth-focused screen initiative that celebrates the creativity, storytelling and technical skills of student filmmakers across Far North Queensland.Established in 2023 as a companion program to the Understory Film Festival, it provides a professional and supportive platform for young creatives to showcase their work, connect with peers and gain industry recognition.
The event features a range of award categories judged by screen industry professionals, ensuring students of all ages and experience levels are encouraged and celebrated.
By highlighting emerging talent, Understory High inspires young people to pursue film and media studies while exploring future creative career pathways.
Award-winning films are also submitted to the Understory Film Festival, giving students the opportunity to share their stories with broader audiences and gain further recognition for their achievements.
