A free, informal lunchtime session to help migrants better understand and manage their finances in the UK.Join us for an informal lunchtime conversation about understanding finances in the UK. The sessions are designed to help people feel more confident, informed and in control of their finances after moving to the UK.
What we’ll cover:
Paying the correct tax: Understanding what you need to pay, how to avoid common mistakes and what to do if you think you’ve paid too much or too little.
Financial support and Universal Credit: Understanding what financial support is available, how Universal Credit works and how to check you’re getting everything you’re entitled to.
Loans and savings: How different types of loans work, how to spot risky loans and credit offers, and how to manage your savings.
Debt and financial difficulties: Understanding where to go and what help is available.
Managing your money day to day: Simple, practical tips for budgeting and planning ahead.
Who it’s for
This workshop is open to everyone, regardless of age, background or circumstances.
What to expect
The session will be informal and friendly, with sandwiches and hot drinks provided. There will be time to ask questions, share experiences and build a support network. You’ll leave with useful resources, practical information and a clearer idea of where to turn for help in your area.
This event is organised as part of Talk Money Week, a national campaign encouraging people to talk openly about money, and is part of our wider work on migrant economic justice.
