Join us for our first Understanding our Communities learning opportunity, a short taster session designed to help professionals build their knowledge, confidence, and cultural humility when working with people from different backgrounds, faiths, cultures, and lived experiences.

Building a more inclusive hull starts with understanding. This in the first in a series of informal taster sessions provide a safe space to learn, ask questions, challenge assumptions, and develop meaningful connections with the communities we serve.

Workshop - Cultural Humility: Understanding Barriers to Participation
Info: A practical introduction to recognising how language, trust, family responsibilities, cultural expectations and previous experiences with institutions can influence people’s engagement with services. Through reflection, real-life scenarios and group discussion, participants will explore how cultural humility can help them communicate more effectively, build trust and create more inclusive services.

Info: This interactive session adopts a reflective approach to explore the concept of 'Ubuntu'. Participants explore how it plays out in the context of their own lives and community.
The term "Ubuntu" originates from the Nguni languages of Southern Africa and is often translated into English as "humanity towards others," "I am because we are," or "a person is a person through other people."

Workshop - Silent Tears: Hear Us, Include Us
Info: An interactive workshop exploring why some young people feel unheard, excluded or disconnected from their communities and services. Drawing on young people’s voices and real community experience, the session will explore how leaders and organisations can listen better, involve young people in decisions that affect them, and create opportunities where every young person feels valued, included and able to belong.
