Domestic violence affects individuals and families in every community—including our own. But what does domestic violence look like in Wayne County today, and what can we do to support survivors and help create safer communities?
In recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, join the Zonta Club of Northwest Wayne County for an informative community conversation featuring staff from First Step, a Wayne County nonprofit providing comprehensive services to survivors of domestic and sexual violence.
During this presentation, First Step will share insight into:
- The current state of domestic violence in Wayne County
- Who First Step serves and the services available to survivors and their families
- What trauma-informed care means and why it matters
- Common barriers survivors face when seeking safety and support
- How friends, family members, coworkers, neighbors, and community members can support survivors
- Ways the public can help organizations like First Step continue this critical work
Whether you want to better understand an issue affecting our community, learn how to support someone in your life, or find meaningful ways to get involved, we hope you'll join us.
This event is free and open to the public, but registration is required.
In-person seating is limited to just 45 attendees, so advance registration is strongly encouraged. A virtual attendance option will also be available for those who would prefer to join online.
