About this event
He comes home every night, quietly, careful not to disturb her. He thinks he's being respectful. She thinks, "Why don't I matter to him?" Neither one says a word.
This is what we humans do in the name of relating. We hint, we hope, and we wait for the other person to guess. When they don't, we feel unseen, and we often don't even know which need is going unmet.
Every one of us has seven core human needs, but each of us has our own unique cocktail of which ones matter most. In this class you'll discover your own needs profile, and learn how to ask for what you need in a way that speaks into your partner's world, so they can actually hear it and respond.
A new year is the perfect time. Old patterns resurface, and unmet needs start asking to be named. This year, know what you need and how to ask for it.
Come as you are, partnered or single. Couples will explore their needs together. Singles will gain clarity for every relationship in their life: romantic, family, friendship, and work. All practices are fully clothed and non-sexual.
In this class you'll:
- Learn the seven core human needs and discover your own unique order of priority
- See how unmet needs show up as conflict, distance, or resentment
- Learn why partners often miss each other's requests, and how to speak into the other person's world
- Practice making a clear request, and asking the question that changes relationships: "Am I meeting your needs?"
- Leave with a needs map for yourself, and for your partner if you come together
This class is for you if:
- You feel unseen or unimportant and can't quite name why
- You and your partner keep missing each other despite good intentions
- You were raised not to ask for what you need
- You're single and want to know exactly what you need before your next relationship
This is the third evening in the Relationship Skills Update Series leading to Sequoia's Valentine's Tantra Relationship Workshop, February 12–14, 2027.
