December nights in New Brunswick are dark, cold, and absolutely spectacular. On Saturday, December 12, we're opening the farm after dark for an evening under the Geminids, one of the year's most active meteor showers, peaking with dozens of shooting stars per hour.
Come for an hour. Stay for two. Recline. Look up. Listen to the horses in the nearby pasture. Watch the sky.
We have a limited number of reclining chairs and blankets; bring your own if you can. Hot drinks provided. No fires, no lights. Just full dark skies, the herd nearby, and the Geminids overhead.
What to expect:
The Geminids are one of the year's most reliable and spectacular meteor showers, bright, bold, and often colourful. On a clear December night in rural Kings County, away from city lights, you can expect to see dozens of shooting stars per hour. No telescope needed. Just your eyes and the sky.
What to bring:
Warm layers, dress for a cold December night
Your own reclining chair or blanket if you have one
A thermos if you'd like extra warm drinks
we have gentle lighting along the walkways and barn to guide you in safely. Once you're settled in the viewing area, we ask that phones and lights stay off to protect everyone's night vision and keep the sky as dark as possible.
