About this Event
Jane wanted to save her middle son from institutionalisation and medicalisation and took him to Nepal where she and her husband were working. Here baby David defied his doctors gloomy prognostications, rallied and changed from a nervous twitchy hospital baby to a joyous toddler.
This evening's discussion between Jane and the current writer-in-residence, based on Jane's new memoir, is likely to cover doctor-patient communication and hint at the delights of raising a child with medical challenges but whose default was laughter - especially at rude noises.
The memoir is a personal story but - written as it is by a doctor/parent - it hints at the reasons why there can be different ideas about who decides about a child's best interests.
There will be a rolling photographic dispay running during the session, book signing and refreshments.
