Unco Barre is a lower body focused strength class built around muscular endurance, balance, and functional movement. Using ballet inspired barre exercises (without the pressure, perfection, or scary teacher), this class targets the glutes, thighs, calves, and deep core, to build strength and stability for every day life. It’s also great for strengthening the smaller stabilising muscles that support knee, ankle, and Achilles function, while helping with spine alignment and pelvic floor engagement, making it a great compliment for other Unco dance classes. There’s no waltz’s or dull piano music here: we move to a fun and uplifting playlist to keep you moving when things start to feel a little heavy. Feel free to sing, it may also help you get through that familiar burning sensation that barre classes bring about.
We use stacked chairs as our barre for balance and support, meaning the barre height can be customised for each participant. This class is best done in socks rather than shoes or barefoot, as some movements sweep along the floor.
Unco Barre is a kinder, more energising take on a barre workout where you’ll notice feeling stronger week on week.
Classes held Saturdays 9:15am at Blackmans Bay Hall – BOOKINGS ESSENTIAL
