Join us on Saturday, November 7th, 2026, to support ongoing efforts to restore native grasses at UCLA’s Stunt Ranch Santa Monica Mountains Reserve. Collaboratively organized by the UCLA Ecological Restoration Association (ERA) and UCLA Environmental Student Network (ESN) and led by local restorationist Katherine Pakradouni, this free hands-on event will involve supporting native grass restoration at Stunt Ranch by transplanting native grasses into native habitat. Participants will learn how to successfully plant potted grasses, and sow native seeds that will be planted next year.
Stunt Ranch Reserve staff are actively restoring native grasslands by growing plants on site and later transplanting them into disturbed areas of the reserve. These areas—particularly around the education center—experience frequent human activity and are often dominated by invasive grasses. In 2025, the reserve launched a successful restoration initiative with the help of volunteers and students, who collected native seeds, built an on-site nursery, and sowed seeds into plugs and flats. The seedlings have since matured to incrdible heights and are read to be moved into their perminant home. Help us to get all of our plants settled in a designated plot and start sowing more plants!
Support from students and community members is essential to restoring habitat around the education center. With your help, Stunt Ranch can remain a place to learn about native California ecosystems and where native plant research continues to thrive.

Required Liability Waiver: All visitors to UCLA Stunt Ranch Reserve are required to sign a liability waiver created by the University of California Natural Reserve System.
