About this Event
This Talk-Walk-Talk is led by artist Johnathan Powell, which also forms part of Art Gene’s programme Art Commons, a series of social workshops and talks for those interested in the visual arts and who would like to connect with others in Furness.
The walk will take place on Walney Island, along the tidal channel which separates it from the main town. This remarkable urban setting offers many views: the mega-structures of the Submarine manufacturing docks, two conservation areas, the distant Lake District fells and a dynamic tidal waterscape.
We will be joined by local artists and experts, who will provide insight into the historic and ecological importance of the area. We will also take part in exercises to help you look at the surrounding sites in a new way. The afternoon will end at Art Gene’s community growing space, Allotment Soup, where there will be free refreshments and homemade soup.
This walk is open to everyone, no matter your experience with photography, including those who want to take pictures with their mobile phone.
