About this Event
"Clown is having a moment." -everyone
Clown is antifascist and you're brave. This workshop realigns us with our sense of play, gets us soft and open, and sets us up for good guttural laughs. Everyone's welcome, from newbs to old pros, and you'll probably leave with a new friend. Dig that!
What is clown? It's the comedy of being instead of the comedy of intellectualizing. It's the state of being. It's pure play by the fools.
Tallie Medel's clown classes are secretly just Tallie's favorite games organized into a lesson plan so people come over and play. The founder of Brooklyn Comedy Collective's clown program, Tallie makes this ancient and popular practice an inviting one, because they know clown is FUN and they want to share.
Like the Clown Dropping drop-ins Tallie teaches, every class is suited for total newbs (often the funniest), but old pros will learn new games to carry into their own practice.
Students become embodied, present, and curious as we laugh our way past ego into genuine joy.
Long physical warmup and a bunch of very dumb theater games is what the class is.
