About this Event
Please join us and Samaria Rice on Saturday, November 14, at 3 PM in The Land School's Auditorium for an afternoon of remembrance honoring the life and legacy of Tamir Rice.
The program will feature remarks by Dr. Adam Green, a poetry reading by Leslé Honoré, and a musical offering by D-Composed, alongside a memorial photo exhibition provided by Samaria Rice. Together, these offerings create space for reflection, collective care, and remembrance in the wake of Tamir's life taken twelve years ago on November 22, at the young age of twelve.

About The Tamir Rice Memorial Gazebo
Ten years ago, on November 22, 2014, 12-year-old Tamir Rice was killed by a Cleveland police officer. In 2016, the gazebo near which Tamir was killed was slated for demolition and erasure. Thanks to the tireless advocacy of Tamir’s mother, Samaria Rice, the structure was preserved and later entrusted to artist and Rebuild’s Executive Director, Theaster Gates. Since then, Rebuild Foundation has served as its steward, commissioning artists to engage the memorial as a charged site of remembrance, and an ongoing commitment to and honor of Tamir’s legacy.
About The Tamir Rice Foundation
The Tamir Rice Foundation invests in the growth and enrichment of all children through after-school programs in the arts and Afrocentric culture, allowing them to express their truth and improve their lives as they grow into young adults.
