Welcome to the second edition of the Tweed River Festival! Join us in Melrose in the Scottish Borders for two days of river-focused creative activities: from collective net-making to riverside listening walks; costume-making to screen-printing; circus performances to photography workshops; film screenings, food, wild swimming, a parade, and more!
Conceived as a gathering of river-loving communities, the 2026 festival is the culmination of Connecting Threads’ 2026 programming theme Under, over, round and through: which borrows its title from group dance warm-ups encouraging participants to focus on their relationships to the surrounding space and to each other. We invite you to join us as we trace connections between the river, our minds, our bodies, and our communities across a multitude of scales.
Strange Loop (pt.2)
Strange Loop is a new participatory immersive and meditative experience from artists, Jamie Wardrop and Sita Pieraccini. It sets up a feedback loop between VJ, technology, music, and live organisms, together entering abstract, conceptual, visionary and auditory realms. The process is one of constantly self-creating unexpected and surprising forms and spaces.
This performance is the finale to Strange Loop: a unique audiovisual jam created by your exploration of the wonders of the natural biome during part 1’s walk and workshop, earlier in the day.
About the artists
Sita Pieraccini is a performer and vocalist from Scotland. Her embodied practice encompasses physical performance, writing, voice, composition, drawing, and moving image. Endlessly inspired with lens based media, Sita uses video to compose ideas for live performance and has an ongoing interest in mimesis, mime and the metaphysical.
Sita’s work in sound is an extension of her performance practice which explores embodied processes of fixing and unfixing learned gestures and mental states of being. Inspired by movement artists such as Deborah Hay, who explore the effect the imagination plays on movement and the cellular body, and electronic musicians such as Julliana Barwick, Sita explores spaces between sound and voice and the potential for the voice to create imagined architectures.
Jamie Wardrop is a Glasgow based experimental digital artist who works with live visuals, installation, 3d animation, theatre design, film and sound. He has toured nationally and internationally to countries such as Sri Lanka, Palestine, Germany, Poland and Ireland. He originally trained as an actor at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and worked for many years as a professional performer. He has received considerable critical acclaim for his solo work and is often embedded in collaborative projects. Jamie has developed an art practice that champions how digital technology can enhance live events and performance.
He has created live visuals for artists such as Basement Jaxx, Simple Minds, Lewis Capaldi, Gerry Cinnamon, Patrick Topping, Faithless and Capercaillie. He creates live improvised VJ sets on the main stages of Creamfields North & South, Riverside Festival - Glasgow, Edinburgh Hogmanay Street Party and for techno and house raves at SWG3. Glasgow.
