About this Event
Mosaic lamps have lit homes and bazaars across Turkey for generations, and in this hands-on Turkish mosaic lamp workshop in Chicago Downtown, you’ll get to make one yourself. No art background is needed. The craft comes from Turkey, where artisans have been creating colorful glass mosaic designs by hand for centuries, and you’ll follow the same basic approach.First, pick a lamp style that fits your space, from a small candle holder to a statement Moon lamp. Next, choose your colors. Then, build your design piece by piece while an instructor guides you through spacing, color balance, and finishing touches.A cup of Turkish coffee and a plate of baklava keep you company as you create, just as they would in a workshop in Istanbul. The class makes an easy Chicago Downtown date night, birthday outing, bachelorette activity, or team-building event that people will remember. It’s also a memorable gift for someone who loves making things.Kids 8 and up are welcome with an adult. At the end, turn on your lamp for the first time and take home a handmade piece that brings a warm, colorful glow to any room.
