About this Event
Dungeons and Dragons in Worcester
Explore the fantastical world of Dungeons and Dragons with our unforgettable weekly one shots — this time on a Thursday. Everyone is welcome, regardless of experience, and if you're new to the game, this is the perfect space to learn how to play!
Our events are hosted at The Dice Box, which sits right in the heart of Worcester city centre. It's a fantastic space that serves food, drinks, and has enough room to play comfortably.
What you need to play
We provide everything you need to play the game. We have the books, character sheets, pens and paper, and even dice for you to borrow. Though, you are very welcome to bring your own if you have any of these.
What to expect
At The Critical Hit Club, we run lighthearted adventures that are fun and full of fantasy. We like to have a laugh at the table and don't take ourselves too seriously.
You can always expect a welcoming atmosphere, especially if you are new, because we want everyone to feel comfortable and have a great time at the table.
What is a One Shot?
This type of event is known as a one shot game, that means the adventure will only last for a single session. This is great for people who are looking to try D&D, or just want a commitment-free space to play where they can drop in and out of games while continuing to play the same character.
The Setting
The vast and dangerous tundra known as Snow Fields is not a destination people choose to visit lightly. It is filled with monstrous creatures, shockingly hazardous weather, and temperatures so cold they can freeze a person in a single second.
You are heroes that have fled to the far reaches of nowhere. Possible in an attempt to escape the consequences of a terrible action. Here, you'll go out on jobs, fight monsters, help the town of Frostgrave, and discover long dead mysteries lost in the snow.
You can read more about the setting in our setting primer, available right here: https://tinyurl.com/2fzdx9bh
Creating your own Character
You are very welcome to create your own character before the game and we can help you build your own character if you arrive early at the event.
If you want to make your own character, just follow these guidlines:
- You can use the 2024 Player's Handbook (5e) (that's the book with the same cover as this event's cover) and the Legendary Tome of Everfall to create your characters. If this is your first time playing D&D, we'd recommend just using the Player's Handbook!
- Your character can start at level 3; though, if you are new to Dungeons and Dragons.
- To generate your scores, you can either use the Standard Array, or you can roll your scores randomly as long as you make your rolls in front of a moderator for The Critical Hit Club.
- You are allowed to multiclass, as long as your meet the prerequisites.
- You gain any starting equipment or gold from both your class and your background, and you can spend any gold you have on mundane items from the Player's Handbook outside of the game.
