The Tucson Gem and Mineral Show, renowned as the most admired gem and mineral show globally, is organized by the nonprofit Tucson Gem and Mineral Society. This prestigious event has held international recognition since the 1970s, being the first of its kind to unite hobby enthusiasts, the public, and professional curators for an enriching experience of discovery and discussion. Each year, this show attracts approximately 1200 visitors and features around 250 exhibitors who showcase an unparalleled variety of minerals, fossils, jewelry, lapidary crafts, and related publications, all presented under one roof at the Tucson Convention Center in Tucson, United States.
A highlight of the Tucson Gem and Mineral Show is its Special & Guest Show Exhibits, offering a rare glimpse into private and museum collections of some of the most significant treasures in the mineral world. The Society takes great pride in showcasing different remarkable items each year. Additionally, the event includes a special educational focus aimed at children, inviting approximately 3000 elementary students to attend. On a designated Friday morning, these students are given exclusive access to view the exhibits and shop with dealers. The Junior Education area, located in the Galleria, welcomes over 2,000 children of various ages. University of Arizona SESS students share their knowledge about minerals and earth sciences, fostering curiosity and appreciation for these fields.
Lectures are an integral part of the Tucson Gem and Mineral Show, held from Thursday to Saturday in the meeting rooms of the Tucson Convention Center. Notable events include the Arthur Roe Memorial Micromount Symposium and the FM-TGMS-MSA Symposium, both focusing on micro-mineralogy and related topics. Additionally, the Saturday Night Awards & Reception features hors d’oeuvres and an awards ceremony, celebrating achievements in mineralogy and geology. Non-profit organizations related to mineral and earth sciences are invited to participate at no cost, allowing them to engage with the public and share their wealth of information. The Tucson Gem and Mineral Society, established in 1946, continues to foster a community devoted to geology, mineralogy, lapidary arts, and allied earth sciences.
