Synopsis

AI is shaping the systems that run our businesses, public services, and our everyday lives. As organisations move quickly to adopt AI, the question is no longer simply what the technology can do, but whether we can trust the people designing, building and deploying it to do so competently and responsibly.

Emma Logan - Deputy President of BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT explores why trust in AI ultimately depends on the professionalism of the people behind it. Powerful technology combined with weak governance and unclear accountability creates risks that technical capability alone cannot solve.

Drawing on examples from industry, Emma will argue that trusted AI depends on skilled professionals who understand their responsibilities, work to clear ethical standards, and can be held accountable for the systems they create.
