Artist Talk (Liza Read x Tristan Burfield): 22nd October. 6-8.30pm
Norwich based Polymath and Multi-media artist Tristan Burfield has teamed up with fellow environmental artists Mike Ridge, Hannah Ayres and Liza Read to present a brand new group show exhibition entitled ‘Planned Obsolescence’. A mixed media show which explores our complicated relationship with technology, waste and consumerism. The group is united by our commitment to sustainability, re-use, consumption and our relationship with the objects and materials that surround us. The exhibition will feature lo-fi photographic digital prints using recycled, discarded and obsolete media such as Y2K era Casio WQV1 Watch Camera, Sony Mavica Floppy Disc Camera and Gameboy Camera. Tristan is interested in exploring the power, character and warmth of 8-bit digital textures as an antidote to the industry's consumer driven frenzy for high-res 4k Digital perfection. The exhibition also features analogue holograms, handmade recycled paper canvases and interactive junk noise making machines assembled using discarded/abandoned consumer hardware.
Opening Times: Wed-Sunday 11am-4pm. Museum of The Environment, Museum Street, Ipswich (Old Arlingtons Building).
