TRIMMING IN CERAMICS - INTERMEDIATE
Curious about the next steps after throwing on the pottery wheel, or, are you struggling with adding the final touches to your vessels? If so, this Trimming in Ceramics Pottery Wheel Class is here just for you. During this particular hands-on adventure, you will be guided through the trimming process and learn about different tools and techniques to aid in applying those important finishing touches to your vessel. Whether you’re retouching the piece from the previous class, or already an artist but struggle with different aspects of trimming, this class is meant for you. Some experience needed. YOU WILL GET MESSY!
Date: Friday November 13, 2026
Time: 6PM to 8PM
Location: The Garcia Center for the Arts
Recommendations: Wear clothing you don’t mind getting messy; Shoes be closed toe; Avoid loose hanging sleeves; Remove hand jewelry; Maintain shorter nails; Age 10+
Note: YOU WILL NOT MAKE ANY VESSELS IN THIS CLASS, however, you will be given pre-made pieces unless you are using pieces you made in our Beginner Throwing in Ceramics class. This is a 2-hour pottery wheel lesson taught in a group setting. Each person will work with 2lbs worth of leather hard vessels, and choose a color for their chosen pieces. The instructor will guide you step by step through the trimming process, and give feedback to each person as needed. This class has lots of trial and error and your piece may break or get damaged in the process. Yes, this is part of the process, and although much effort is made to ensure vessels survive, it cannot be guaranteed.
