Information:
Tri-Cities Tennessee Fusion 33 1/3
A Call for Artists
The LP vinyl record is more than a piece of music history—it is an icon of culture, design, and creativity. Once displaced by newer technologies, the 33⅓ RPM record has experienced a remarkable revival, finding a new generation of collectors and enthusiasts. Like many ideas in art, what was once considered obsolete has found renewed relevance and appreciation.
“Tri-Cities Tennessee Fusion 33 1/3”, our second annual Fusion show, invites artists to reimagine this familiar object as an original work of art. Using an LP record album cover, the vinyl record itself, or any combination of the two as the primary substrate, artists are encouraged to transform these everyday materials into something entirely unexpected. This should be about TRANSFORMATION rather than nostalgia.
There are no stylistic limitations. Entries may be two-dimensional or three-dimensional and may be painted, collaged, photographed, sculpted, assembled, deconstructed, suspended, freestanding, sewn or explored through any creative process. Whether the original album remains recognizable or becomes completely transformed is entirely up to the artist.
The square format of the album cover and the circular form of the vinyl record present a unique creative challenge—an opportunity to push beyond their original purpose and discover new possibilities. We are excited to see how artists throughout the region reinterpret these once-common objects into compelling contemporary works of art.

Submissions due by October 1, 2026. Email your digital image and size description to [email protected].
All creations can be anything you like, as long as the base of your piece is a 33 1/3 12” vinyl record album and cover or a combination of both or one or the other.
Artists can cut, paint, melt, sew, collage, mount photos, suspend on wires, create a 3D piece, anything you choose, as long as the base of the piece is the 33 1/3 record album.
Artists to provide the name of the album and artist. We are creating a play list from the albums used to create the pieces.
All pieces must be displayable. This means 2D pieces must be hangable. Attach a wire to the back for hanging or a hook of some sort. If the pieces are loose, mount them to a foam board or other substrate and attach a wire or hook of some sort. 3D pieces either must stand up or artist to provide a stand. Suspended pieces just need a ring so we can hang with an S hook.
Any questions, feel free to send over and we will help you if we can.
We are looking forward to this fabulous show to open First Friday, in November 2026!
Artists in the show are asked to contribute $5 towards reception refreshments and we will provide a great spread.
Artists are encouraged to invite your friends to participate. Also, help us populate the opening. Please share the info on social media or any way you can. Show opening invitation will be forthcoming.
