Portland favorites, Tree Frogs, organic roots rock explorers of the Pacific NW bring their signature groove to Tomorrow’s Verse, where winding guitar lines, deep-pocket rhythms, and communal energy are all part of the experience. Before "jam band" became a marketing category, Portland's Tree Frogs were already charting their own course through the Pacific Northwest's musical backroads. Equal parts road warriors, sonic adventurers, and roots-rock revivalists, the band helped define Portland's underground live music scene with a sound that fused rock, country, folk, blues, funk, and vintage soul into something entirely their own.
Born from the fertile creative soil of Portland's legendary East Side music community, Tree Frogs spent the 1990s building a devoted following the old-fashioned way: one unforgettable show at a time. Their music thrived in the space between genres, where winding guitar leads met deep-pocket grooves, improvisation danced with songcraft, and every performance felt less like a concert than a communal celebration.
The band logged more than 60,000 miles across North America and Europe during a relentless decade of touring, playing over 500 shows in support of a trio of beloved releases: Tree Frogs Live! (1994), Leap Year (1996), and Live at the Laurelthirst (1997). At their peak, they were packing theaters, selling out 1,000-capacity venues, and cultivating a reputation as one of the Northwest's most captivating live acts. Yet, as with many great road stories, the constant motion eventually caught up with them, and the band stepped away from the spotlight in late 1997.
Reuniting in 2000, Tree Frogs returned not with nostalgia but with renewed purpose. Over the next two decades, they became fixtures of the Northwest festival circuit and local music community, most notably through their celebrated Laurelthirst Public House happy-hour residency, where generations of fans gathered weekly to share in the band's enduring chemistry and joyful unpredictability. Their performances unfold like a cross-country road trip without a map: part front-porch singalong, part cosmic dance party, part late-night rock-and-roll revival.
