We are delighted to welcome Jack March aka the rheumatology physio as our keynote speaker.
The Nottingham spinal assessment unit at QMC will be joining us for an update on when we should be imaging the spine in primary care as well as experts from the pain team and musculoskeletal hub.
Aim of this Event
To enable AHP's, APP's and Physician Associates in primary care to get together to discuss how to best assess and manage the high number of people who present in primary care with chronic pain conditions including back pain, osteoarthritis and fibromyalgia symptoms. We hope clinicians will leave feeling equipped and confident with new tools and information to help manage these people successfully outside of secondary care.
Target Audience
AHP's, APP's and Physician Assocites working in primary care including; advanced practice clinicians, pharmacists, physiotherapists, Occupational therapists and GP's.
Agenda
- Treating chronic pain/ fatigue without prescribing Medic*tion
- Low Back Pain Update – When is it appropriate to image in primary care
- Local Orthopaedic pathways ‘The journey to joint replacement’
- Osteoarthritis + Fibromyalgia syndrome diagnosis and management
Objectives
1 Develop skills needed to help people holistically cope with chronic pain and fatigue without prescribing opioids.
2 Learn more about the local orthopaedic pathways and the patient journey to joint replacement including what is available for those who are not in a position to have surgery.
3 To discuss when it is appropriate to scan the spine in primary care..
4 To learn how to assess, diagnose and treat the huge number of patients who present with early osteoarthritis and widespread chronic pain.
5 To feel confident in diagnosing and managing Fibromyalgia in primary care.
